Spirit FM - Caroline Flint interview

Usual political sound bites and spin...
Quite a few well - welll - wells.
A bit of old tosh!
And those carefully chosen words,
'Articulate, confident & Rich!'

"NO Ford Eco Town" is a very BIAS campaign, which is focusing upon the wealthy and ignoring the needs of those most vulnerable in society, yet again!

Should you feel my words are in any way incorrect?

Please feel free to enlighten your readers and those suffering horrendous housing conditions, how you feel the Out of Control Housing Crisis within West Sussex will be resolved?

Would you prefer to just ignore those suffering? Would you not think it's about time those suffering had genuine opportunities? Do you not feel that it's about time hollow words and exploitations of those suffering came to an end?

Quite simply, it's more a question of NO ON MY FRONT DOOR isn't it?

I know lets build'em outside or nearby the MPs homes; I wonder would the MPs and the Councillors then change policies?

Let's face it and at the end of the day, millions of homes are urgently needed it will always be the wrong place to build, do you not think?

3 boys lives are being blighted, whilst you're okay, what have you done to help such children? Nowt I bet, because it's no your problem, they are demonised and insignificant, right?

Sorry, I have little time for such a BIAS campaign, a campaign that ignores those silent voices.

Maybe now is the time to say enough is enough!! Maybe now is the time to address issues of those suffering, you know those who have been treated with contempt.

Maybe, we can muster a few to take on your campaign.

But at the end of the day, it would be much nicer if greedy buggers gave something back, instead of taking all the time?
Maybe it’s time that the MPs and Councillors considered vulnerable in society more?

Such controversial campaigns should address all the issues and offer some constructive alternatives to aid the thousands of vulnerable, but silent voices also?

Gosh! 1 commetn and yet again you have removed it. Could this be because your blog and in fact such a campaign is extremely BIAS?

You make fun at the words of Caroline Flint, could this be because some facts hurt?

Whilst I might agree with your issues on the most part, I cannot support such a campaign in which it withholds factual information. Or one that most certainly does not offer alternatives, in this case much needed housing.

I note you've recently added a welcome note, very nice and thank you, although I don't see any need for "rants and abuse" just debates etc.

I have just listen to Caroline Flints interview and I must say that I was drawn to her last words in that the silent minority should have their views heard. After all I suspect that the majority supporting this campaign are sitting comfortably and have been fortunate. Whilst those in real need, are suffering such appalling conditions, which it appears no one wants to be accountable.

Lets face it, Arun District Council has held a Conservative Majority since 1974. May I also add, that most certainly since that time Arun District Council has not reinvesting in new social housing stock, furthermore has adopted policies to deture large housing associations, such as the Guiness Trust.

May I say that within your welcome statement you said "It also happens that most of the people living in the surrounding area are against this Eco-Town development - hence the huge support for this CAFÉ and this Blog." Maybe so, but nonetheless this is not just an issue for locals, rather more an issue of much needed housing. If the Conservative MPs who appear to be riding the gravy train, took more interest in area they represent, then surely social housing would have been better managed and planned at various stages. My point is that would this have been the case, then maybe Ford would not have been listed for such a large number of homes?

Your previous posters obviously have hands on experience of the flip side, I strongly suspect that such views will become stronger?

Have you noticed the term ""snob yobs"" being used far more frequently? Such terms are being used against such campaigns also ;)

cough! sorry for any errors, in a rush...

I feel I must respond –as not responding gives the impression that I do not care. Tiny, I am not ignoring your suffering, I have experience of the issue of homeless families…3 under 5’s being homeless with their parents for well over 6 months…I’m know that you probably spend your time fighting the system (which is stacked against you even when the systems ‘claims’ to help) but I must also point out that the CAFÉ campaign is also fighting the system in an attempt to save 3 villages….it is the ‘systems’ that are wrong not the people living & fighting their corners.

Dear Everyone in Yapton, Ford, Climping, Littlehampton, Bognor, Middleton, Slindon, Barnham, Bilsham, Binsted and Walberton & Arundel,

Well some hard words said here and surely we must listen. I have lived here 20 years and have been very happy in the area. When I found out by accident about the proposed Ford developement, this April, I was pretty upset, because it seemed to be setting out to swamp the area in which we all live.

Being one of the "articulate and confident" people (sadly NOT rich) that the Minister seems to be sniping at, I tried to find out what the proposal meant - and so we started CAFE, a group of concerned local residents, who wanted to help tackle climate change, the housing shortage (its not all it seems) and in brief to see if the project was really viable - or if we locals would end up with egg all over our faces.

In truth the more we looked into the developers' proposals, the less we liked them. They had not thought things through, so there was real danger that the project would go off at half-cock and fail. We would all then be left with horrendous traffic, all our roads dug up to enlarge the sewage, electricity, water supply, telephones etc and a massive stream of HGVs bringin in building supplies over next 5-10 years and 200,000 tons of waste to burn on Ford Airfield each year - thousands more HGVs.

Then there was the flooding and potential for climate change to turn Ford into an island by 2050-75. Yes, really...

Then we looked at the reason for all this - the government talks about 3 million houses needed in England over next ten years. This is a guess and subject to big swings, like the 600,000 Poles going home again. ARUN Council has some 4,000 bids for housing on its list, but these are all in Bognor (2,000) and Littlehampton (1,700), with just 200 in Yapton. Now if you happen to be one of the 200 in Yapton, then the idea of having a house just down the road in Ford sounds pretty good - but not if there are no shops, surgery, post office etc and a fine (car tax) if you take a car into/out of the neighbourhood. Yes, this has also been suggested.

And this is the problem: any local facilities will be built out of the developers' profits - and if they can show they have noe, then the shops will not happen and people living on Ford airfield will have to cycle or bus, complete with shopping etc. Or walk to Ford Station.

In terms of housing in Littlehampton and bognor, we really need to know if people who need houses in Bognor and Littlehampton would actually be prepared to move to Ford to get a house, or would they prefer to stay in the same area with friends and family and jobs? You could help us here, by answering this blog?

In summary, there are still a lot of questions and none of us pretend we have all the answers, but at least we are asking them and forcing the government to come clean about their plans, before it's a done deal and your locally elected councillors have been totally bypassed.

My final comment, to one or two of you, is that ARUN Council has taken note of some of our input and is already setting up plans to increase the housing being built locally: and it makes sense that much of this is built near existing roads, stations, shops and super-markets & schools - so watch this space.

I hope this helps. Now I must go and find a parking space for my Daimler - I wish!!

Gosh, after all these months of zero opposition, suddenly we get three dissenters in the space of a day.
And they have all elected not to publicly share their Profiles!

Maybe I've been a forum Moderator for too long, but I smell "socks!"

Harold ... is that you??

Erm! Just Maybe? The issues are far reach' than just the proposed Ford Eco Town? Just Maybe more thought should be taken for those in real need and seeking fair opportunities, the same opportunities that those before them had? Etc

Maybe people should look at how the Social and Affordable Housing has been and is mismanaged? For example, why do so many reside in over-accommodated properties? When clearly better management of most certainly social rented homes, would make a real difference and ease some pressures. Why aren't the wrinkles forced to downside and free up property for those who need the extra space?

I refer to the comments by nicki and her comments and after reading that newspaper article, it clearly demonstrated that the Housing Manager was not in agreement with such implementations.

terry knott "housing shortage (its not all it seems)" Assuming you are correct, then please explain why families such as nicki are suffering?
