Who are the Men in Black?

Back in January 2011 these two characters were spotted photographing the houses on the Goodhew, Downview, and Fordwater estates. They might have been working on behalf of Planning Potential, who were proposing the Gleeson development.

Well, the chap on the left was spotted in the Village again last Saturday photographing Church Lane, Stakers Farm and The Olive Branch.

Possibly another controversial planning application is looming?

Another day another nibble...

A application to build another 45 homes in Yapton has been submitted to Arun District Council by  Robinson Escott Planning LLP on behalf of their clients Brookworth Homes for land south of Burndell Road. More details here...

Hopefully the residents of Yapton will be as vocal about this as they were about the Langmead proposal.

Exciting new development... Really?

According to the hype - Emerald Gardens is an exciting new development of 2, 3 & 4 bedroom homes for sale in Yapton. Not if you're one of the residents who have had to put up with the constant  noise and mess over the last 6 months.

Anyway the blurb goes on to say - this Saturday, Charles Church will be opening this wonderful 'unwanted' development and you are invited!

Time to pay them a visit and tell them how you really feel about this development.

Emerald Gardens opens this Saturday 26th April from 10.00am.

Last few days to fight Grundon Incinerator Blot

Yep! Grundon want to dump a waste incinerator on the old Tarmac site at ford. I did cycle along to the greenwash presentation back in August and wasn't impressed. However, we only have a few days left to object to this idiotic plan...

Arun housing sites recommended for approval again

Barely two months after councillors decided to reconsider where homes should be built in Arun, the council’s local plan sub-committee is due to recommend the exact same locations. From the Littlehampton Gazette.

Plan to build 250 news homes in Yapton is rejected

Also in the Littlehampton Gazette - Plans to build up to 250 homes in Yapton have been thrown out by Arun councillors. A total of 124 letters of objection were received by Arun from villagers, as well as 322 postcard objections and 146 signatures on two separate petitions against the plans.

The question is - which plot of land in Yapton is next on the list for a planning proposals?

Second solar farm for Yapton on the cards

From the Littlehampton Gazette - YAPTON could soon be the location of a second solar farm, capable of generating enough electricity to power 750 homes.

Goodbye Olive Branch!

Such a shame that the Olive Branch in Yapton has closed again and is up for sale. It would be a bigger tragedy for the village if the property is re-developed for housing as suggested on the Savills PDF details.

In my opinion the building needs a major refurbishment inside and out. It should be renamed and rebranded as a village pub / coffeeshop / restaurant. Convert the beer garden to a contemporary glass covered dining area so food and drinks can be served all year round. There is so much potential for creating a welcoming comfortable place that appeals to people young and old.

Keeping the Olive Branch would be far better for the village than another property development - it's not like we need anymore houses!

Yapton homes for sale in Arundel!

Slightly disappointed that Charles Church didn't check where Yapton actually is before putting details on their website. According to their webpage the ironically named Emerald Gardens is in Arundel. I guess they're slightly confused because we have the Arundel title and post code in our addresses.

I may suggest they invest in a dictionary too!
