Arun housing sites recommended for approval again

Barely two months after councillors decided to reconsider where homes should be built in Arun, the council’s local plan sub-committee is due to recommend the exact same locations. From the Littlehampton Gazette.

Plan to build 250 news homes in Yapton is rejected

Also in the Littlehampton Gazette - Plans to build up to 250 homes in Yapton have been thrown out by Arun councillors. A total of 124 letters of objection were received by Arun from villagers, as well as 322 postcard objections and 146 signatures on two separate petitions against the plans.

The question is - which plot of land in Yapton is next on the list for a planning proposals?

Second solar farm for Yapton on the cards

From the Littlehampton Gazette - YAPTON could soon be the location of a second solar farm, capable of generating enough electricity to power 750 homes.

Goodbye Olive Branch!

Such a shame that the Olive Branch in Yapton has closed again and is up for sale. It would be a bigger tragedy for the village if the property is re-developed for housing as suggested on the Savills PDF details.

In my opinion the building needs a major refurbishment inside and out. It should be renamed and rebranded as a village pub / coffeeshop / restaurant. Convert the beer garden to a contemporary glass covered dining area so food and drinks can be served all year round. There is so much potential for creating a welcoming comfortable place that appeals to people young and old.

Keeping the Olive Branch would be far better for the village than another property development - it's not like we need anymore houses!

Yapton homes for sale in Arundel!

Slightly disappointed that Charles Church didn't check where Yapton actually is before putting details on their website. According to their webpage the ironically named Emerald Gardens is in Arundel. I guess they're slightly confused because we have the Arundel title and post code in our addresses.

I may suggest they invest in a dictionary too!

Meeting

There will be a public meeting at Yapton and Ford Village hall on Friday 27th September at 6.30pm to discuss the St Mary's Park development proposal. This will an opportunity for residents to express their concerns to MP Nick Gibb.

Just to update you on the Charles Church application for 173 houses north of Burndell Road in Yapton Village.

There has been some revision to the plans, which can be viewed and commented on here.

Received a letter this morning informing me and probably most of Yapton Village about a forthcoming public exhibition for residential and public open space development on land to the North of Church Lane.

The exhibition will take place on Monday August 5th, from 3.15 - 7.30pm at Yapton and Ford Village Hall.

Public Right of Way

Hello again...

It appears someone wishes to block the Public Right of Way with a rather intrusive fence on the land behind Goodhew Close, Downview Way and Fordwater Gardens. They have also destroyed some of the natural hedges!

One important concern to raise with WSCC is that Emergency Services will have difficulty gaining access to the site should there be a fire or accident.

Campaigners angry at Growth and Infrastructure Bill

Campaigners have accused the government of creating a developers' charter with its Growth and Infrastructure Bill being debated in the Commons later.

The government says the bill is needed to stimulate development.

Ford and Climping targets for waste sites In West Sussex

A consultation launches, today into potential sites in the following areas:

• North of the wastewater treatment works at Ford
• Hobbs Barn, near Climping.
• The fuel depot at Bognor Road, Chichester.
• Brookhurst Wood, near Warnham.
• Land west of the wastewater treatment works at Goddard Green.
• Decoy Farm, Worthing.
• An extension to Brookhurst Wood landfill, near Horsham

The extra sites are required because waste experts estimate there will be an extra 500,000 tonnes of commercial, industrial, construction and demolition waste generated in the county each year by 2031.

Charity pressures councils over million empty homes

Councils should sell or let properties at a discounted rate to help reclaim the one million empty homes in the UK for families in need, a charity says.

Empty Homes has urged the government to pressure local authorities to create more affordable homes. 

Two million families need a home and 100,000 more new builds are required each year, statistics show.

Architects say new houses are 'shameful shoebox homes'

Unfortunately developers in West Sussex have been cramming people into smaller homes for years. Just look at Eden Park in Littlehampton - not a lush green welcoming place as the name suggests and you can bet your bottom penny 'greedy' Gleeson are already looking at altering the Courtwick Lane plans to see if they can cram in some more of these shoe box homes.

New town at FORD could ‘ease’ Chichester housing pressure

Apparently a new town at Ford might be the answer to solving Chichester and Arun housing problems, it has been claimed. The city council’s planning and conservation committee agreed to urge Chichester District Council to start talks on the idea with neighbouring Arun – with Ford mentioned as a possible location for thousands of new homes.
